CONVERSE

Established as a purveyor of rubber galoshes in 1908, the iconic Massachusetts-based label Converse began manufacturing athletic footwear in 1917. In the early 1920s, the company hired basketball player Chuck Taylor, who helped develop the brand’s All Star shoes for enhanced flexibility and support. A decade later, the popular style was renamed in his honor, establishing Converse as a dominant presence in the court-shoe industry to this day. The label’s lines for men, women, and children include recognizable hallmarks of American fashion, including Cons and Jack Purcell sneakers.
